TV advert analysis

I  decided to analyze the John Smiths advert featuring Peter Kay. I have decided to do this advert as it  has a lot of points of mise en scene you can cover, it is also for a big company in John Smiths and has been made as a comedy advert.http://www.tellyads.com/show_movie.php?filename=TA4202
Location Setting
The advert is set late at night in an middle class Indian restaurant. This shows connotations that its for the average people theres nothing expensive or special about it. The location doesn’t change throughout the advert it stays at the table with the two couples.

Costume/ Make-up
Both Women and one of the men are wearing light denim. Peter Kay who is the star of the advert is wearing a plain black jumper. This could be to make him stand out or to show he’s different. The staffs at the restaurants are all wearing the traditional white tops in the background.
Props
They have the product on the table, but only have the men drinking it. The connotation shows it’s a man’s drink. Peter Kay also has a wedding ring on symbolizing he is a family man. The phone he is also using isn’t a high tech one so shows he is an average man. There is also a lot of colour around the restaurant
Lighting/Colour
The lighting is coming from the lights in the restaurant there is no one that it is focused on. When we see the drinks on the table we can see the drinks that seem to light up to make us focus on them. Each character is in the light which could mean they are all having a good time.
